Last week was a tough one. Roger Horning, the man I considered my dad from ages 4-12 passed away. He had been diagnosed with inoperable cancer in July, but I don't think we'd all dealt with the finality of that. On Friday he suffered from a bowel rupture and that sent him on the fast track to heaven. I was very thankful to see him on Saturday when his pain was under control and his mind was active. We shared some laughs and I told him about the latest Star Trek movie that he hadn't seen yet. Josie and I visited all morning and then told him that we'd see him again on Sunday afternoon. By Sunday afternoon his body was failing and tired. He didn't say much and would only open his eyes periodically. Josie and I left at 9pm. DeLane and Nancy stayed with him until the end. He passed away around 9am on Monday morning.
The Memorial Service was on Friday, February 5th. It was a great service. You almost couldn't walk out of the church sad. We took LOTS of pics with the Horning family. Anna also captured a pic of all the girls cousins on my side of the family. Aren't they darling?
